Moral Dilemma 2

Tony, a data analyst for a major casino, is working after normal business hours to finish an important project. He realizes that he is missing data that had been sent to his coworker Robert.Tony had inadvertently observed Robert typing his password several days ago and decides to log into Robert’s computer and resend the data to himself. Upon doing so, Tony sees an open email regarding gambling bets Robert placed over the last several days with a local sports book. All employees of the casino are forbidden to engage in gambling activities to avoid any hint of conflict of interest. Tony knows he should report this but would have to admit to violating the company’s information technology regulations by logging into Robert’s computer. If he warns Robert to stop his betting, he would also have to reveal the source of his information. What does Tony do in this situation?

  1. Rafael Eulalio says:

I believe he should report Robert because, although Tony went through Robert’s information and business, he had a reason to do that and the staff would probably understand it. Besides that, they would eventually find out about Robert’s gambling anyways, and it’d be worse if they found out themselves.

  2. Osa Omokaro says:

First of all Tony is wrong for invading another coworkers privacy. I don’t think Tony would be happy if Robert was the one going through his computer like that. I think Tony should just finish what he was doing and ignore the email he opened up. Tony should understand the consequences of reporting Roberts behaviour to the management that it would be very dangerous and even result in the lost of his job.

  3. Will Spring says:

Tony should tell Robert that he knows about the bets he made. He should tell Robert that he looked over at him when he was at his desk and saw him place the bets. He should tell Robert that he knows but should lie about him source of information. If Tony were to tell Robert the truth about of how he knows, Tony could get written up or fired from his job and if he stays quiet, then Robert would get away with breaking company rules. The only thing Tony could do is just lie.

  4. Zaniyyah grant says:

In this situation of tony finding out that Robert has been placing bets and that is forbidden and against policy however tony has also went against a policy and if he so happens to tell on Robert he’d have to tell how he found out the information or give proof therefore i’d say that tony should mind his business not only will Robert may lose his job but there is a possibility that tony loses his job too

  5. stephan dorcely says:

I would tell Robert to stop his gambling because its not good for him and his job as well as his life. Id tell him why and how I found out about it telling him I was honestly trying to send the email and I saw it so I was concerned. If he refused id threaten to tell the company even if it meant id get in trouble to save a friend / co worker because id want to help him out.

  6. Wa-Nayiah Burwell says:

I think Tony should just give Robert a chance to confess or stop doing it and if not then expose him even if it costs him his job. He will be looked down for invading his privacy but at least he didn’t hold something that important from everyone else. He might get more respect for telling everyone than holding that secret even if Robert lose trust in him. He would just be better off saying something. It could makes matters worse if he holds the truth in.

  7. craig epps says:

Tony should keep his mouth shut. If he reveals this he has a chance of also losing his job. He should try to find out about it a different way then he would be able to tell. I conclusion Robert and tony are both violating job rules.

  8. Alan Ferreira says:

If I was Tony i would leave it I would mind my own business because there will be no point of telling Robert no because he might still do it anyways. Its also like nothing bad is happening to Robert.

  9. Michael DeCastro says:

In this dilemma Tony should take a chance and tell his boss about what Robert is doing before he wins money from his betting. Even though both of them have broken company rules Tony won’t get fired because he had a good reason to look at Robert’s computer. If Tony gets fired he will know that Robert didn’t get away with the casinos money.

  10. bodybuildingRell says:

Tony should talk to his employees about what happened and ask them about who logged into his computer and should give the person who confess some money. you do not want to tell anyone who you know will get you in trouble or set up a camera app on your pc too take a pick of who ever it was

  11. Jar Jar Bink says:

I believe that Tony should find a situation where he could notice the email. He can try talking to Robert first and get him a warning and some time to get out of it. If he doesn’t listen than reporting him would be an option and you wouldn’t be caught for snooping.

  12. Elisha Da'Jaun says:

I think Tony should act like he never knew about the betting. If Tony just keep the information to himself Roberto will not even know anything about Tony issue

  13. Both of them are going to get in trouble because one of them is gambling and the other one log in to someone computer with his punishment, if he tell the truth is not going to hurt the person by letting them know what you did wrong..

  14. Khalif says:

I think Tony should risk losing his job by telling on Robert. What Robert is doing is wrong and he knows that. He not suppose to be gambling cause its against the rules. He should be get in trouble with his job because he is disobeying the rules. Even though its wrong for Tony to snitch, but he is doing the right thing.

  15. Zulmarie Clemente says:

Tony should just mind his business because he was on Robert’s computer. Tony needs to just get what he needs and just leave. No one needs to know what Robert is doing. Sooner or later if he becomes a big deal the bosses will find out about it.

  16. Ashly Sosa says:

Tony should do what is right, just to mind his own business. He went through Roberts computer because he needed some information that he didn’t get. He invaded another workers privacy, why was he even going through his email.

  17. Nayara Goncalves says:

I believe that Tony should tell Robert that he need to use is email so that he can do the stuff he need to do.so Robert will understand about that and let him that the email had poped up. That he read it and tell him the best thing for him to do is stop the beting so he dosen’t get fired. Also that he won’t tell anyone or the staff that he was doing the beting.

  18. Janaya Richards says:

I think that Tony shouldn’t do tell because he was also breaking rules, so if he tells he will get in trouble too. Also that Tony didn’t have the right to go on Robert’s computer. He should have just minded his own business, and do what he needed to instead of going through his messages. Robert had a right to his privacy and Tony just went through his stuff without asking.

  19. Siara says:

I think Tony should just pretend he never seen it and mind his business. Mostly because if he gets questioned about the situation most likely there gonna ask him “how do you know this” and he’s gonna have to say that he was logged on to his computer. So he shouldn’t have been in his email anyway. So Tony should just mind his business.

  20. Lawrence Abdul-Price says:

in this situation this should be takin to legal maters because you basically hacked someones life i know for me the my email contains everything about me there and then you go aginast your jobs policy that make it even worse so i feel as if the cops should be involved they probbly cant do much but to just get the message across that what was done was and still is wrong

  21. denilson says:

if i was tony i would tell on robert because something might happen to the casino and he would regret that he didnt tell the owner. He should keep the casino safe by snitching to the owner

  22. Johnathan, Johnson says:

I Think tony should do his job, and instead of dealing with Roberts gambling he should mind his business. By going threw someones things he was already commiting a violation. So to cover himself its best to leave the situation alone. Especially since he would have never known if he didnt need information, or have Roberts password.

  23. Dave Manasse says:

Tony should report him because they have to follow rules. they know that they are not suppose to gamble. so he should report him. betting is not good

  24. Mallory Orozco says:

Tony should just mind his business and let the company find out on their own. He could risk his job and possibly get sued for invading someones privacy.

  25. rachael says:

tony is also breaking the rule he should have walked away and mind his own business and not reading roberts messages

  26. Destiny says:

tony should mind his business , and act like he saw nothing because its really not his business to begin with. i feel like if you dont have to get involved dont let somebody else handle it, its not your problem.

  27. Nakia St.Fleur says:

Tony shouldn’t do anything. He went into Robert’s thing to resend information to himself & that he did. He was never told to go in his account from the rip. So he should act like he ain’t see it and be about his buisness.

  28. john christopher blanc says:

i think that tony shouldn’t report this because it was none if his concern. By law he violated someones privacy and he can get in trouble. Also he shouldn’t have opened it in the first place it is his fault he didn’t have the data.

  29. steven says:

He should just mind his own business and act like nothing happen. He should be looking at his own message and not the other guys. I understand that he is breaking the rules but still.

  30. Naddie says:

I Think Tony Should Just Mine His Business But Also Tell His Homie About The Wrong Things He’s Doing That Could Gets Him In Trouble

  31. Kayla says:

Tony shouldn’t tell because he has to follow the rules. If he doesn’t he can get in trouble too because he knows, and didn’t say any thing. It’s the right thing to do.
